Settings & Configuration

Your complete guide to configuring your PayXT dashboard, setting up API keys, and customizing your workflow.

Business Profile & Quick Actions

Business Profile

Enter your legal Business Name and Support Phone Number. This information appears on the checkout page so your clients know exactly who they are paying.

Top 4 Vendors / Payers

Save the contact information for your 4 most frequent clients. This allows you to auto-fill their details with a single tap, skipping manual entry.

Top Quick Services

Do you frequently charge the same amounts? Set up your Quick Services (e.g., "HVAC Diagnostic: $150"). Tap the service button on your dashboard, and PayXT will instantly populate the amount and memo field.

API Keys & Connection Testing

To process payments, PayXT needs to connect to your gateways. We do not store or process your funds.

Stripe Keys

Log into your Stripe Dashboard -> Developers -> API Keys.

Copy your Live Secret Key (it usually starts with sk_live_) and paste it into the Stripe field.

PayPal Keys

Log into PayPal Developer -> Apps & Credentials.

Create a Live App. Copy both your Client ID and Secret Key into the corresponding PayXT fields.

Connection Testing: Once you enter your keys, click the Test Connection button. PayXT will send a secure ping to Stripe and PayPal to verify your keys are active before you send your first real invoice.

Taxes & Gateway Fees

Adjusting the Tax Rate

If you are required to collect sales tax, enter your local percentage (e.g., 9.5%).

Where to find this: Check your State's Department of Revenue website or search your local city's tax portal online. Tax rates often combine state, county, and city percentages.

Finding Processing Fees

PayXT allows you to legally "gross-up" the invoice to cover credit card processing fees. The industry standard is 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.

If you process high volumes and have negotiated a custom lower rate with Stripe or PayPal, you can adjust these percentages in your PayXT settings to match your exact rates.

Preferences & Controls

1

Itemized vs. Simple Receipts

Choose how the text message looks. Itemized sends a full breakdown showing the Base Price, Tax, and Fees. Simple hides the math and only sends the final total amount owed.

2

The Reset Button

Located on the main dashboard, this button instantly clears your current invoice draft, drops any selected quick services, and resets the form so you can start fresh for the next client.

3

The Nudge Button

Did a client forget to pay? The Nudge button instantly copies a polite, professional follow-up message along with the active payment link, ready for you to paste into an SMS.

Troubleshooting Errors

"Invalid API Key" Error
Double-check that you copied the entire string without any leading or trailing spaces. For Stripe, ensure you are using the Live key, not the Test key. For PayPal, ensure your app is set to "Live" mode in the developer dashboard.
Link won't generate / Infinite Loading
This is usually a network error. Ensure you have a stable cellular or Wi-Fi connection. If the issue persists, your session may have expired—try refreshing the browser or force-closing the PWA app on your phone.
Checkout screen says "Account Restricted"
This is an issue with your Stripe or PayPal account, not PayXT. You must log into your respective gateway dashboard to resolve any identity verification or banking requirements they have flagged.
