Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using PayXT to send payment links and get paid faster.

How exactly does PayXT work?
Build an invoice on the Dashboard (payer, services, optional tax and convenience fee), tap Send, and PayXT creates a secure Stripe Checkout link on your connected Stripe account. Your phone’s SMS app opens with the message so you can text the link to your client. They pay in their browser—no PayXT app required for them.
Do my clients need to download the app to pay me?
No. The payment link opens a secure Stripe Checkout page in their phone’s browser. They can pay with a card, and Apple Pay or Google Pay when Stripe enables those options on your account.
Where does the money go when a client pays?
Into your Stripe Connect account, then to your bank on Stripe’s normal payout schedule. PayXT does not hold your customers’ funds.
How do I register?
Download PayXT from the App Store or Google Play, then sign up with email/password, Google, or Apple (iOS). Complete your profile if prompted, start the free trial, and connect Stripe before sending your first paid link.
How does the 7-day free trial work?
PayXT Pro includes a 7-day free trial, then renews monthly (typically $14.99/month in the US—confirm the price shown in the store). Billing is handled by Apple or Google. Cancel in your device’s subscription settings before the trial ends to avoid being charged. If you already used the trial on that store account, a new PayXT login usually will not grant another trial.
How do I connect Stripe?
In the app, open Settings → Stripe / bank connection (or follow the prompt when you try to Send). Complete Stripe’s hosted Connect onboarding with your business and bank details, then return to PayXT. You do not need to paste secret API keys into the app for the current Connect flow.
How do I add payers and services?
Go to Settings and save up to 5 frequent payers (name + phone) and 5 quick services (name + amount). You can also add payers and services from the Dashboard while building an invoice, including from your device contacts where allowed.
Why do I see sample payers and services?
New accounts may get demo data (for example Alex Rivera / Jordan Lee and sample services like Service call and Labor) so you can learn the UI immediately. Edit or replace them with your real clients and prices. Existing settings are not overwritten by sample seeding.
Does PayXT take a percentage of my sales?
No. PayXT does not take a platform cut of each job payment. You pay the PayXT Pro subscription after your trial. Card processing fees are charged by Stripe (commonly about 2.9% + 30¢ in the US; your Stripe pricing may vary).
How does the convenience fee / fee pass-through work?
Turn on the convenience / processing fee toggle in Settings (default) and/or on the Dashboard for a specific invoice. PayXT can gross up the total so after Stripe’s fee you still net approximately your job amount. You are responsible for complying with local laws and card network rules when passing fees to customers.
How do taxes work?
Set your default tax rate in Settings, then toggle tax on the Dashboard for the invoice you are sending. Tax can appear as its own line on checkout. PayXT is not a tax-filing product—confirm rates with your accountant when needed.
How many times can a payment link be opened? Does it expire?
Shortened PayXT payment links allow up to 10 opens/clicks. That is enough for a client to forward the invoice to accounting, while limiting automated abuse. After 10 clicks, send a new invoice/link. If shortening is unavailable, the full Stripe Checkout URL may be used instead (Stripe’s own session rules then apply). After a successful payment, create a new invoice for any new charge.
How do I manage payments and reminders?
Use invoice history in the app to track status, send a reminder SMS, mark an invoice paid for cash/external payment, and export records where available. Payout timing and bank deposits are managed in your Stripe Dashboard.
How do refunds work?
Client job payments: refund through your Stripe Dashboard—PayXT does not hold the money. PayXT Pro subscription: cancel or request a refund through Apple or Google. See our Refund Policy.
How do I delete my account?
In the app go to Settings → Delete account and confirm. You can also request deletion via our Contact form or the Data Deletion page. Cancel your App Store / Play subscription separately. Deleting PayXT does not erase Stripe’s legally retained payment records.
Is PayXT secure?
Yes. PayXT does not store your clients’ full card numbers. Checkout runs on Stripe’s PCI-compliant infrastructure. See PCI Compliance.
Where do I download PayXT?
Get the native iOS and Android apps from our Download page.
